For the multilevel parking, the parking slots for the four wheelers are fixed and the entry and exit is under controlled environment, for such MLP lots, a back end app can be designed for the operator which will enable to mark entry and exit of four wheeler. This information will help the citizen to check the parking space availability as well

Problems

  1. To educate citizens regarding the activities of Municipal School Board
    Municipal School Board runs over 250 schools in 7 different mediums. To help citizen identify and choose the school for their ward, it is required to make available various school related information like address, medium of education, no. of classes and intake, details of facility (playground, computer lab, science lab, library, etc.), faculty information, etc.
  2. App for the parents
    There should be an app that helps the parents know their child’s school attendance, results, exam schedule, special announcement, etc.
    Moreover, it would also be helpful to provide the informative details with regards to the result of the student, student attendance, teacher’s attendance, etc

Sewage & Storm Water System

Problems

  1. Pilot case study to access actual sewage generation
    The total quantity of sewage generation can not be predicted and confirmed as the householders uses extra water through boring, storage rain water etc. It is also important to prevent ground water depletion and prevent unauthorised bore wells.
    To overcome this problem the possibility of placing “sewage meters” can be explored. This can be at individual house level or apartment/society/complex level.
    Utilising the data from water meter and sewage meter, the application should be able to help identify the abnormalities to take corrective.
  2. System to alert Water Logging
    SMC has a storm water drainage system in different areas, but some of the areas faces problems of water logging if rainfall intensity is very high.
    An application along with simulation capability can be developed which can map the historic rainfall data and water logging data and can generate alert for potential water logging.
  3. Storm Drainage Outlet Gates Operation
    Total 48 nos. of storm outlets are draining storm water into Tapi river.
    The alert should be received to the concerned authority so that gates of outlets are timely closed whenever level of Tapi river is going to rise due to heavy rain or discharge from Ukai dam
  4. Sensor based Water Logging Alerts
    Water logging at critical areas within city disrupts the life of commuter. It is important to know such water logging event and notify the commuter to adopt alternate route.
  5. Online alert for drainage line choking & manhole overflowing.
    To sense water level at manhole in the area and notify / alert when overflowing.

Water Supply System

Problems

  1. Water Pollution in River Tapti –
    Monitoring and keeping track of water quality parameters on river tapti and in comparison with the Inland Surface water quality of river classification, deterioration in raw water quality of river Tapti needs to be monitored and tracked
  2. Water Tanker Management
    Daily Tanker Water delivery monitoring and consumption reporting. Imposing point of delivery of tankers on GIS / Digital map of water supply and identification of potential problem (Low pressure, inadequate water supply and time, water quality problem etc.)
  3. Leakages and Contamination monitoring
    Daily spot water quality monitoring (Residual Chlorine) and detection and capturing water contamination related issues in distribution network so as to immediate reporting of leakages and contamination can be done with Geo Referenced leakage / contamination spot
  4. Borewell/ Tube well / Ground water usage monitoring
    Apart from piped water supply system, it has been surfaced out that ground water is being used across the city. In order to capture the bore well / tube well water usage, system is needed
  5. Ground water quality monitoring
    Since Surat City is falling nearby coastal zone and therefore, salinity ingression and deterioration in ground water cannot be neglected. Moreover, in order to prevent salinity ingression in city area, rain water harvesting is being promoted. Therefore, in order to monitoring seasonal water quality data for ground water across the city, system is needed
  6. Revenue Loss through illegal water connections
    Apart from authorized water connection across the city, there is a possibility of un-authorized water connections, which is resulting in un-authorized water consumption and leading to loss in revenue
  7. Pressure management in water supply network
    During water supply hours, adequate pressure remains to be maintained such that tail end consumer gets adequate pressure. However due to un-authorized drawl of water through pump set at house hold level, frequent problem of pressure is being observed
  8. Revenue loss in water supply due to lack of metering
    More than 90% of the domestic consumers in Surat City are having 1/2″ size water connection and they are not metered presently. In absence of water meter, User Charges are being collection. However, in absence of water meter, it has been observed that water utilized are much more than needed and as a result, revenue loss is quite possible
